3 SPARROWS
Did I mention I was attacked by ants? The welts climbing my leg and up all the way to the soft hollow under my arm. Impossible for me to forget, but all the people standing here around me have no idea. They talk amongst themselves of their plans and obligations, the small disappointments they jangle in their pockets like loose change. I could have drowned of loneliness right here in the lunch line, but that three sparrows dipped across us and carried my heart away.
